Theater performance “Change the climate”
Monitoring alpine glaciers, expeditions in caves, observation of the athletic performances of fishes, mobile labs, rain simulators, green surfaces: a performance standing between conference and theater to discover how scientific research and engineering contribute to face the challenges of climate change, starting from the experience of the project climate_change@polito.
Cambiare il clima (Change the climate) is a performance by Faber Teater, designed in cooperation with the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering and produced for Biennale Tecnologia of Politecnico di Torino, where it was staged online on November 15th 2020.
Starting from June 2021, Cambiare il clima has been also performed live in several venues.
- The project was presented at the International Conference “Theatre about Science: theory and practice”, that took place in Coimbra in November 2021, with a lecture-performance entitled ““Cambiare il clima: an encounter between theatre and scientific research for a new narrative about climate change” (Authors: Elisa Vanin, Costantino Manes, Marco Andorno, Sebastiano Amadio, Paola Bordignon, Chiara Baudino)
- The video dedicated to the PaleoLab, part of the play, won the "Future Earth" award of the Earth Futures Festival, an initiative promoted by UNESCO - International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) Project 685: Geology for Sustainable Development and the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
- The play was selected among the works published in the Climate ChanCe 2022 creative communication competition organised by Shylock - University Theatre Centre, Venice.
