PROFESSOR VALENTINA SOCCO (DIATI) FIRST WOMAN AND FIRST ITALIAN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GEOPHYSICS JOURNAL
Since 28th August Prof. Valentina Socco has been appointed Editor-in Chief of GEOPHYSICS. She is the first woman and the first Italian to be appointed since the launch of the journal 82 years ago. GEOPHYSICS is considered the main repository for exploration geophysics thanks to a production of about 350 scientific articles per year and an impact factor equal to 2.4.
GEOPHYSICS is edited by SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists), a 87-year old scientific and professional society aiming to promoting the application of geophysics to underground exploration in different fields such as exploration for natural resources (hydrocarbons, industrial minerals, water, geothermal energy), environment, engineering and cultural heritage. SEG counts about 32.000 members all over the world and is based in Tulsa (US).
