Bioenergy from the advanced treatment of organic waste
Speaker: Prof. Elia Judith Martínez Torres
Full professor at the University of León (ULE)
Prof. Elia Judith Martínez Torres is a native of Mexico who has been in Spain for more than 15 years. She was trained as a Chemical Engineer in Mexico and obtained a Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialty in Chemistry from the University of Oviedo Spain. She continued her training in León with her master’s studies in Renewable Energy, and in 2015 she obtained a doctorate from the University of León in the Science and Technology of the Environment and Processes program. She joined ULE as Professor in 2014 in the Department of Applied Chemistry and Physics in the Area of Chemical Engineering. She belongs to the Chemical, Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering Group (IQUIMAB) of the University of León, and she has been involved in local, national, and European projects, delivering multiple scientific publications in high impact indexed journals. Currently, her research experience is mainly aimed at waste treatment and development of technological processes in the field of bioenergy.
Abstract: Nowadays, the generation of sustainable energy is a task of great importance. This talk aims to show the results obtained in improving the production of biogas from different treatments such as electro-oxidation, biochar or hydrogen addition applied to the anaerobic digestion of various organic waste. The activities of the ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMICAL AND BIOPROCESSES ENGINEERING GROUP of the UNIVERSITY OF LEON will also be presented.
