Air_Water_Waste Laboratory
The Gas, Water and Waste Treatment Center is composed of the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory and the Biological Laboratory. Within it, basic and applied research projects are carried out on topics such as: waste prevention and treatment for the recovery of raw materials and / or energy, wastewater treatment, water purification, groundwater and soil remediation and, finally, greenhouse gas mitigation through innovative technologies including the use of microalgae.

- Mahler Bomb: measures the calorific value of dry samples undergoing analysis
- Asalair hood: equipped with EPA filter, it is used for organic and / or carcinogenic solvents
- Biohazard hood: biological hood that protects both the sample and the operator
- Centrifuge: 1500 rpm high speed centrifuge, used to separate materials of different densities
- Autoclave: sterilizes the containers in which the algal cultures will be grown
- Microwave labstation mls 1200 mega: microwave mineralizer, used for the extraction of metals and / or organic substances from waste, biomass, soils to be analyzed with GC, GC-MS or ICP
- COD: determines the chemical oxygen demand on different matrices
- BOD: determines the biochemical oxygen demand on different matrices
- Automatic Fos / Tac titrator: determination of FOS / TAC in digestate samples; determination of alkalinity in water samples
- Eracheck: analysis of total hydrocarbons in cyclohexane extracts from water or soil samples
- Ion chromatograph: analysis of anions (Cl-, F-, Br-, SO4 =, PO43-, NO3-) in water samples
- UV-VIS spectrophotometer: determination of ionic species and COD with expeditious analyzes based on colorimetric kits
- Gas chromatograph with FID_TCD detector: analysis of organic substances in soils, water, gas (quantification)
- Gas chromatograph with mass detector: analysis of organic substances, PAH and VOC in soils, water, gas (identification and quantification)
- CHN: evaluates the presence of C, H, N and S in waste and biomass
- ICP: Instrument used for the analysis of metals in water and digested samples
- Phycotrone: Experimental reactor for microalgae growth with LED artificial light on the bench
- Photobioreactors: Experimental reactor for microalgae growth with LED artificial light
- Freezer and freeze dryer: freeze-drying of microalgae biomass and other biomasses
- Optical microscope: Visualization of biomass samples, magnification from 100 to 1000X, with phase contrast, direct light, dark field and fluorescence on 4 channels. Two cameras, one B&W with high resolution (4K) and 120fps, the other in color (1080) 25fps:
- Biogas analyzer: characterization and biogas composition
- Tiger VOC: VOC meter in gaseous emissions
- Endress Hauser autosampler: automatic sampler for timed sampling of primary and waste water
- Batch digesters: digesters for batch and fed-batch evaluation of the methane potential of waste and biomass
- Digester WET 300 L: Biological reactor for the evaluation of the methane oxygen potential in wet conditions equipped with gasometer and sensors for the determination of the necessary parameters. Control of parameters with PLC and remote access
