28th SOMP Annual Conference - Society of Mining Professors
From the 3rd to the 6th of July Torino will host the annual conference of the Society of Mining Professors (SOMP), the international society gathering professionals of the mining and mining-related sectors engaged in education and research. The current president of SOMP is Prof. Marilena Cardu from DIATI and the national organizing committee of this edition of the conference – sponsored by Politecnico di Torino and GEAM association – is composed of professors affiliated to the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering.
The objective of the meeting is to share views on innovative research scenarios, to analyze the present and to evaluate the future of education, to foster the enhancement of knowledge transfer, to attract new members, especially from developing countries.
Such event hosted in Torino is of particular interest especially if we consider the launch from the academic year 2017/2018 of a new specialization in Mining Engineering within the M.Sc. in Petroleum and Mining Engineering offered by Politecnico di Torino.
