STARS - Shared mobility opporTunities And challenges foR European citieS

October 6, 2017 - Formally launches, with the kick-off meeting at Castello del Valentino, the European STARS project - Shared mobility opporTunities And challenges foR European citieS. The project, funded by the Horizon 2020 program under the Pillar "Societal Challenges - Smart, Green and Integrated Transport", sees the Politecnico di Torino as the leader, with the coordination of Professor Marco Diana of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Territory and of Infrastructures.
STARS arises from the need for a depth reflection on shared mobility services in Europe. Car sharing is growing rapidly on our continent, with more than 2.2 million users estimated in 2014 (+ 79% over 2012). However, many aspects still need to be clarified in order to guide the development of these services towards maximizing the potential benefits for the community. This is why the project aims to identify future scenarios of shared mobility, evaluate its potential benefits, and develop policy-makers for useful decision-making tools to reach them.

Activities will be carried out over a period of 30 months by a consortium of 9 partners from 6 different European countries, including GM Global Propulsion Systems - Turin as an industrial partner.
